Plitvice – Laguna Santos Morcillo

All the way through the geography of Castilla-La Mancha we can find isolated lagoons showing similar characteristics to those of Ruidera, laguna del Arquillo and Ojos de Villaverde, both located in Albacete province are examples of this. But in order to find a similar lagoon area, we shall travel to Croatia specifically to Plitvice Lakes National Park.

It is located in the region of Lika and it covers 300 square kilometres. It was granted the status of National Park in 1949, and later, in 1979 it received the status of UNESCO World Heritage.

Just like Ruidera, its sixteen lagoons offer an extravaganza where the water is the most prominent character: waterfalls, torrents and emerald green shades.
