Laguna Conceja Icthyofauna |
Frequently the elders of Ruidera tell about the ancient superiority lagoons had in relation to fishing. But it is all history due to man’s dangerous use. The insertion of exotic species such as pike, carp or black bass, meant a decline of local ones which had thriven in their waters, mainly Iberian nase and barbell. These species declined due to the voracity of foreign ones and were isolated to certain areas of the lagoons but today they are protected. Among local species we can mention the Iberian nase of Guadiana, freshwater blenny or eel prouts, spined loach… and three types or barbell. Among the foreign ones which were introduced we have pikes, carp, mosquito-fish, black bass or the rudd. |
